# Request Domain Name Transfer

How to request a domain name transfer from your old domain registrar to Elements Hosting

If you would like to move your domain name registrations from your old domain registrar to Elements Hosting, below are the steps to get that transfer process started.

#### Step 1

Log into the [Elements Hosting Client Portal](https://portal.elementshosting.io/) and navigate to the **Place New Order** page.

#### Step 2

Enter your domain name that you would like to transfer over to us, then click the `Transfer domain` button.

#### Step 3

Fill in the domain transfer order form and click the `Add to cart` button when completed. Follow through the remaining checkout pages to complete your order.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Before submitting your domain transfer order, make sure you have **unlocked the domain** and that you have **requested the EPP/Auth Transfer code** at your old domain registrar. You will need to enter the EPP/Auth Transfer code on our domain transfer order form. We will not be able to start the transfer process without this code.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.realmacsoftware.com/elements-docs/hosting/how-to/how-to-guides/request-domain-name-transfer.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
