The Format Node is always on as you need to specify an output format and quality setting. These settings are preserved between launches.

Format: This allows you to choose the output image format, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, WebP, and AVIF, which are currently supported.

Quality: Each image format has its own settings for quality and compression.

If the resulting image is larger than you'd like you can adjust the quality to reduce the file size. for more information on how to do this.
