The Resize node is used for resizing images, it has various modes to give you full control on exactly how to resize your image. By default, this node is off. Full details on each of the modes are included below.
The "Width" option will resize images based on the width inserted into the pixels field. Squash will maintain the aspect ratio of the image when resizing in this mode.
For example, if you want Squash to resize an image to the exact width of 650 pixels, you would enter "650" in the pixels field.
Just like Width mode, but for Height!
The "Height" option will resize images based on the height inserted into the pixels field. Squash will maintain the aspect ratio of the image when resizing in this mode.
For example, if you want Squash to resize an image to the exact height of 800 pixels, you would enter "800" in the pixels field.
Entering a Max Size will resize all images based on their longest edge. This is perfect if you have a mixture of portrait and landscape images but you want to make them all a similar size.
Squash will maintain the aspect ratio of the image when resizing in this mode.
For example, a Landscape image of 500x1000 resized to 500 pixels would result in the image being 250x500.
And with the same settings, but for a Portrait image of 1000x500, the resulting mage would be resized to 500x250.
This setting is perfect if you want to force the width (or height) of all iages to be equal. Great if you're building a gallery and want portrait and landscape image widths to be the same.
The "Percent" option will resize images based on a percent of the image's original size. Squash will maintain the aspect ratio of the image when resizing in this mode.
The "Free Size" option will resize images based on the exact dimensions you enter. Squash will not maintain the aspect ratio of the image when resizing in this mode.
The two-way arrow icon between the Dimensions field will swap the values.
